Kiev Cake has a fascinating creation story. It was invented in 1956 at the Karl Marx Factory in Kiev (now “Roshen”). According to legend, the cake appeared by accident: confectioners forgot to put a batch of egg whites in the refrigerator, and by morning they had dried out. To avoid wasting ingredients, the masters decided to use them to create a new dessert — thus the famous Kiev Cake was born, which became the hallmark of Ukrainian confectionery industry and a popular gift brought from Kiev.
