Chechil is a traditional Armenian brined cheese that is also popular in other regions of the Caucasus and Russia.
The main feature of chechil is its fibrous structure in the form of thin threads, which are often braided into plaits or twisted into skeins.
Chechil comes in smoked and unsmoked varieties. The smoked version has a distinctive aroma and golden-brown color. The cheese is consumed as a standalone snack, often with beer, added to salads, or eaten with bread.

Karina –
Such fun cheese! My kids loved ‘unbraiding’ the strands. Pleasant salty flavor – great in salads but I bet it would pair wonderfully with craft beer. Four stars only because it’s a bit pricey for snacking, but the quality justifies it.

My kids went nuts for this “cheese string” snack! Fun to pull apart and surprisingly satisfying. Perfect protein boost for hiking trips. A tad salty for my taste but my husband loves it with his IPA. Cool retro packaging too.
